Argo Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) App Usability Study
We are inviting families to participate in a study evaluating Argo, a new AAC iPad app developed with federal research funding. The purpose is to understand how easy the app is to use in everyday settings.
Who may participate:
- Children ages 3 to 18 with autism spectrum disorder (a formal clinical diagnosis is welcome but not required)
- Children who are minimally verbal or use AAC as their primary way to communicate
- Familiarity with an AAC system of any kind
- Primary home language: English
- Families in central New Jersey, or able to travel to the Woodbridge, New Jersey area
What is involved:
- Use Argo as the main AAC for one week (your child’s existing AAC remains available as backup)
- Day 1 visit (about 90 minutes) for setup and a parent questionnaire
- One brief mid-week check-in by phone, video, or message
- Day 7 visit (about 45 minutes) and end-of-week questionnaires
- An iPad is provided on loan. Compensation is up to $150 in Amazon gift cards, plus mileage if you travel
